celtic jewelry pendantBack in 2000, when we first started producing our Celtic jewelry line, it seemed we had much more company from other creative designers than we do now. I'm not sure if it's that we're not doing as many shows, other Celtic jewelry designer's Web sites aren't as visible, I'm not paying attention, or if there is less designer Celtic jewelry being produced.

I understand that creative inspirations come and go, and perhaps those designers of fine Celtic jewelry have moved on to other styles, but I miss seeing the new takes on traditional Celtic designs that were available even as recently as 2004 - 2005.

I'm not saying that original Celtic jewelry designs aren't available, I can still find some of our favorites from them among the handful of jewelry designers that we've known throughout the years. But, I can't recall seeing any new knockout designs in the past few years… something that would make me wish I had designed it myself.

Back when we first started introducing our exclusive line of Celtic pendants, earrings, necklaces and bracelets, there were many designs from our friendly competitors that inspired us to push our boundaries and come up with fresh, new Celtic jewelry styles unlike anything else that was out there.

Over the years, we’ve expanded our line to include a full range of Celtic styles of jewelry, even expanding into Celtic tiaras, and traditional and contemporary designs hand carved into woolly mammoth tusk. (to my knowledge, we’re still the only ones with mammoth tusk jewelry in a Celtic theme.)

Our earliest designs drew some inspiration from tribal tattoo influences, including those from Borneo, as well as what one would expect to see based on the Celtic designs found in the Book of Kells and other ancient scripts.

As the tribal interlace designs became more common, we drew from other influences in order to keep things fresh, creative and current. Even though traditional Celtic jewelry designs haven’t changed much in a couple of hundred years, we found our customers appreciated it that we found new ways to incorporate the knot work, spirals, and other shapes into contemporary jewelry designs.

Getting back to what I started this post with… I find myself wondering where Celtic jewelry design is headed, and who will be the designers that will lead into new territories, instead of relying on the tried and true traditional styles that have been around for years.

I’m sorry to say it won’t be us, as we’re not planning any new designs as long as the economy is stuck in the mud. But, I’ll keep an eye out among my friends, and other Celtic jewelry sites on the Web, to see who if anyone will create something that stands out from the rest.

The Celtic Motherhood Pendant and Earrings have become one of our more popular designs, since we added them to the site a year or two ago.

The elegance and meaning of this Celtic jewelry design is obvious, and perhaps that's why people respond so strongly to it.

It is one of our most popular gift items on Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, and for birthdays and other holidays. What mother, who wears Celtic jewelry wouldn't appreciate receiving and wearing a design like this.

Designed in sterling silver, with a highly polished heart, spiral, and mother bending to a child, this Celtic pendant or earrings is an elegant portrayal of the love between mother and child.

The earrings are 11/16" tall and the pendant is almost 1".

Keep these in mind next time you need a gift for that special mother you have in your life.

celtic jewelryAs I reflect on the past several years of producing our exclusive Celtic jewelry designs, one thing is clear. Celtic jewelry remains as popular today as it was when we started.

There are a number of ways to quantify this. One is simply analytics of the traffic to our site, and other Celtic jewelry sites around the web. The amount of searches for Celtic jewelry, Celtic pendants, Celtic earrings, and other related terms such as Triskele, Triquetra, Claddagh, etc. has remained steady.

The other reason I know this is true is because we continue to see a strong demand when we sell our Celtic jewelry at Celtic Faires and Scottish Highland Games on West Coast.

Even over the past few years of economic woes for a lot of folks, our numbers have remained strong.

If I had to guess as to why the demand for our Celtic jewelry continues is that people who buy Celtic jewelry are proud of their heritage, and/or their love of the designs hasn't dropped off.

We look forward to many years of designing and searching out the best in Celtic jewelry that others produce to offer at our shows, and here on our Celtic jewelry web site.

Thanks for showing up!

celtic jewelry mammothWe recently put up some of our new Celtic jewelry designs, hand carved in Woolly Mammoth Tusk.

These are true heirloom pieces that can be passed down from generation to generation. (The material is already 10,000 - 20,000 years old so you know they have staying power)

My personal  favorite new design is the Mammoth Triskele. The detail is beautiful and it is a natural for the mammoth material.

I always get comments when I wear mine... people really tend to notice these and want to know the story.

We also have a Celtic Dragon design, as well as some of the old favorites such as the Celtic Twin Goddess, The Celtic Knot and the Rose.

Take a look at the Mammoth Tusk Celtic Jewelry category on our home page to appreciate the artistry that goes into these very special pieces.

celtic pendantAnother year of selling our Celtic jewelry at shows and on our ever evolving web site has passed, and we'd like to thank everyone who crossed our path in person or online.

This year saw us do fewer Celtic jewelry shows due to the economy, and the higher costs of traveling in our 20' RV. We also changed our web site in 2009, from a hosted solution to our new Joomla based site. We now have the flexibility to server you better.

We have plans to continue to broaden our offerings in 2010. We will be adding more styles, and we're looking into some very nice, high quality Titanium Celtic rings, and other unusual Celtic jewelry.

You may have seen our newest offerings, the Gold & Silver designer jewelry from a talented producer out of Canada. These designs sold out as fast as we could get them in the run up to the holidays. We expect they will be popular Celtic jewelry styles for Valentine's Day, and for those special birthdays, and other occasions where you need really original Celtic pendants, Celtic earrings and Celtic Necklaces.

We will be sending out our deep discount coupons soon for Valentines Day specials on Celtic jewelry so keep an eye out.

celtic pendantThe latest designs to be available in our online Celtic jewelry store are the Window to the Soul pendants. (Celtic earrings to match)

As you can see from the photos, these are very classy Celtic Pendant designs, and also very unique. The design has Celtic knot work that is over a hollow center.

The inside is gilded in 24K gold, so that it shows through the spaces of the knot pattern. This is a subtle, yet striking effect when viewed from the right angle and in the right lighting.

That's why they are called the Window to the Soul, because you have to look inside to see the warm glow within.

Each pendant comes with an 18" sterling silver chain, and the bale for each Celtic pendant is large enough to accommodate a large diameter chain.

celtic pendantWe have two Celtic pendant styles to choose from. One is the oval shape shown above, and the other is the round Celtic pendant shape, shown to the right.

There are matching Celtic earrings for each version.

We expect these to be very popular as the holidays approach, and since we have limited inventories of these between now and Christmas, don't hesitate if these are the the styles you want to surprise your special someone with.

We continue to search the world for the most unique Celtic jewelry designs to add to our collection, and we have a few new additions that definitely fit the bill.

These are in limited supply between now and Christmas, so if one strikes your fancy, scoop it up right away to avoid disappointment.

First we have our Convertible Celtic Pendant / Necklace, which can go from pendant to necklace in seconds. In a brilliant design, it is held together as a pendant by two tiny magnets embedded in the silver where the ends meet.

Gently pull it apart and open it up and it becomes a stunning necklace.

The style pictured above has five diamonds, and the one at the left has three, but both are sure to please the appreciator and collector of fine Celtic jewelry.

We will present our Silver with 24K Gold gilded pendants and earrings in the next blog post.

celtic jewelry, celtic musicOne of our favorite events every year is KVMR's Celtic Festival. This year (2009) it is October 3rd and 4th.

This festival is a perfect mix of great music, unique crafts, tasty food, and the best setting you could imagine.

KVMR Celtic Festival started in 1996, and each year it has grown, and in good ways.

I can't tell you how many peak music experiences we have had, both from our booth which is just 60 yards or so from the main stage, and from the short trips we take turns making when a band is particularly hot. (this happens often)

As you can see from the photo, the grounds of the Nevada County Fair are covered with trees, and the grassy meadow in front of the stage is full of friendly, Celtic music loving fans.

Part of the allure is that most everyone is dressed up in renaissance, or fantasy attire, making for a fun environment for shopping, playing, interacting, and listening to world class music.

One of my favorite memories from 2008 is from Sunday night when our friend Kim Silverman, the magician, was dazzling some foreign visitors in front of our booth with his close-up magic, while I was showing other attendees a few of our Celtic pendants.

This is just a sampling of the spontaneous happenings that occur throughout the weekend.

Do yourself a favor, and check it out.
