I'm happy to see this design being appreciate again after a while with not much interest. This is a very unique design.

The reflecting spirals design was the result of our wanting to re-work one of our most popular Celtic jewelry designs, the Spyra Celtic pendant, into something a bit more complex.

By taking a single Spyra and reflecting the design, it creates a complex spiral pattern that has the perfect spot to hang an oval cabochon.

We attach the cabochon by a small hinge and it adds the perfect amount of movement to an already stunning piece of Celtic jewelry.

The spiral is one of the oldest Celtic jewelry symbols and this design has lots of spirals as well as a definite tribal feel. Back in 2000, when we first started producing our Celtic jewelry line, it seemed we had much more company from other creative designers than we do now. I'm not sure if it's that we're not doing as many shows, other Celtic jewelry designer's Web sites aren't as visible, I'm not paying attention, or if there is less designer Celtic jewelry being produced.

I understand that creative inspirations come and go, and perhaps those designers of fine Celtic jewelry have moved on to other styles, but I miss seeing the new takes on traditional Celtic designs that were available even as recently as 2004 - 2005.

I'm not saying that original Celtic jewelry designs aren't available, I can still find some of our favorites from them among the handful of jewelry designers that we've known throughout the years. But, I can't recall seeing any new knockout designs in the past few years… something that would make me wish I had designed it myself.

Back when we first started introducing our exclusive line of Celtic pendants, earrings, necklaces and bracelets, there were many designs from our friendly competitors that inspired us to push our boundaries and come up with fresh, new Celtic jewelry styles unlike anything else that was out there.

Over the years, we’ve expanded our line to include a full range of Celtic styles of jewelry, even expanding into Celtic tiaras, and traditional and contemporary designs hand carved into woolly mammoth tusk. (to my knowledge, we’re still the only ones with mammoth tusk jewelry in a Celtic theme.)

Our earliest designs drew some inspiration from tribal tattoo influences, including those from Borneo, as well as what one would expect to see based on the Celtic designs found in the Book of Kells and other ancient scripts.

As the tribal interlace designs became more common, we drew from other influences in order to keep things fresh, creative and current. Even though traditional Celtic jewelry designs haven’t changed much in a couple of hundred years, we found our customers appreciated it that we found new ways to incorporate the knot work, spirals, and other shapes into contemporary jewelry designs.

Getting back to what I started this post with… I find myself wondering where Celtic jewelry design is headed, and who will be the designers that will lead into new territories, instead of relying on the tried and true traditional styles that have been around for years.

I’m sorry to say it won’t be us, as we’re not planning any new designs as long as the economy is stuck in the mud. But, I’ll keep an eye out among my friends, and other Celtic jewelry sites on the Web, to see who if anyone will create something that stands out from the rest.

The Celtic Motherhood Pendant and Earrings have become one of our more popular designs, since we added them to the site a year or two ago.

We made the decision at the last event where we were selling our Celtic jewelry that we were going to retire from traveling to do shows.

There are a number of reasons for this. One is that what used to be fun and exciting as younger folks, gets to be a grind as we edge ever older.

Ten years ago I would drink with my buddies at a Scottish Games until 3 am, then get up at 6 am for set up the booth for an 8 am opening. My body and mind don't appreciate that kind of behavior any longer.

It wasn't an easy decision to make giving up Celtic Fests, Highland Scottish Games and other shows we've done over the years, as the money has often been very good. But, money isn't everything, and we are really appreciating being home in our beloved town of Ashland, Oregon much more.

One year we traveled in our RV with two cats starting in February, down to Arizona, then back East to Georgia for the Georgia Renaissance Festival, then on to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for a two week stint at Dollywood helping some friends out. From there we did 10 weeks at the Bristol Renaissance Festival in Illinois, then on to the Texas Renaissance Faire for 12 weeks, and then home for a bit.

We have lots of great pictures and memories from that trip, but I certainly wouldn't want to do it again. Our best wishes go out to all our friends who still do.

It hurt a little bit to give up our favorite show of the year, KVMR Celtic Fest in Grass Valley, California. It's a great venue, with everyone dressed up in costumes, great food, great music and good times. But things change. I guess we'll spend some of that energy on making this Web site even better.

I just added a new Celtic earring design to our inventory, and I think they have what it takes to be very popular.

The Celtic Earrings with Reflecting Knots are a very stylish Celtic earring design, with very fine detail in the interweave, and a very flattering vertical design in a marquise shape.

These Celtic earrings are 13/16" tall (not including the ear wires) and they are 2.3 grams of sterling silver.

With Valentines Day fast approaching, I thought I'd do a short piece on one of our most popular Celtic jewelry styles, the Twin Flames Celtic Heart Earrings.

It should be obvious from looking at the picture of these stylish Celtic earrings why they are so appealing to those in love and to those who want to attract love. 

The elongated heart shape adds a bit of elegant flair to the traditional heart shape. Inside the heart is an abstract design of two lovers intertwined and rising up to fill the center of the hearts.

All in all, it's a simple design as Celtic jewelry, and Celtic knot work go, but I believe that is a large part of the appeal. Simple elegance in a Celtic earring design that has much meaning for lovers is not always easy to find, and these earrings are a unique gift for another or to oneself.

As I reflect on the past several years of producing our exclusive Celtic jewelry designs, one thing is clear. Celtic jewelry remains as popular today as it was when we started.

There are a number of ways to quantify this. One is simply analytics of the traffic to our site, and other Celtic jewelry sites around the web. The amount of searches for Celtic jewelry, Celtic pendants, Celtic earrings, and other related terms such as Triskele, Triquetra, Claddagh, etc. has remained steady.

The other reason I know this is true is because we continue to see a strong demand when we sell our Celtic jewelry at Celtic Faires and Scottish Highland Games on West Coast. 

Even over the past few years of economic woes for a lot of folks, our numbers have remained strong.

If I had to guess as to why the demand for our Celtic jewelry continues is that people who buy Celtic jewelry are proud of their heritage, and/or their love of the designs hasn't dropped off.

We look forward to many years of designing and searching out the best in Celtic jewelry that others produce to offer at our shows, and here on our Celtic jewelry web site.

We recently put up some of our new Celtic jewelry designs, hand carved in Woolly Mammoth Tusk.

These are true heirloom pieces that can be passed down from generation to generation. (The material is already 10,000 - 20,000 years old so you know they have staying power)

My personal  favorite new design is the Mammoth Triskele. The detail is beautiful and it is a natural for the mammoth material. 

I always get comments when I wear mine... people really tend to notice these and want to know the story.

We also have a Celtic Dragon design, as well as some of the old favorites such as the Celtic Twin Goddess, The Celtic Knot and the Rose.

We have a few new pieces in our product line. One is a very nicely detailed Claddagh brooch - kilt pin, with the same design in a smaller pendant design. The other is a Scottish thistle brooch - pin, also very detailed, and both are solid sterling silver.

The Celtic symbolism of the Claddagh stands for Friendship (hands), Loyalty (crown) and Love (heart). It's motto is, "Let Love and Friendship Rein forever". It is given and worn, both in friendship and romantic love. It's origin dates back over 400 years from the village of Claddagh, near Galway, Ireland, but has been adopted by Celts of all persuasions due to its dynamic symbolism.

The Scottish thistle design symbolizes tenacity and strength.The thistle is the national flower of Scotland, and emblematic of their fierce independance. Historically, it is believed to have saved an entire army by warning them of an impending attack by warriors advancing barefoot under darkness of night. When one stepped on a thistle and cried out, it warned the Scots and they were victorious in defeating the enemy.

Our first show of the year (and one of our favorites) is approaching quickly. 

It's the 134th anniversary for the Sacramento Scottish Highland Games, which will take place in Woodland, California on April 24th and 25th.

We always look forward to presenting our Celtic jewelry at this venue, because the people are always friendly, the weather is usually very good, and also because Woodland has one of the best Sushi restaurants we've ever been to. (http://www.osakasushi.com)

The Sacramento Games always has a great lineup of entertainment, and this year is no different with favorites The Wicked Tinkers and Golden Bough headlining.

We will be bringing our usual display of Celtic earrings, Celtic pendants, Celtic necklaces, Celtic & Elvish Tiaras and Circlets, as well as some of the new designs that we put up on the web site just before the holidays.
